The apple logo appears on the screen as soon as I connect my iPod mini to my computer..there's nothing I can do to get rid of it. When I disconnect it from my computer, it disappears eventually, but in the settings, it tells me that the capacity is zero. What do I do?

My problem is this: I've had the iPod Mini for a few days. It worked wonderfully until today. Some idiot friend of mine decided to push all of the buttons very roughly and see what happens. Shocked, I quickly put the iPod on "Hold" so that none of the buttons would work, and he couldn't damage anything. He gave me my iPod back, and I quickly released the "Hold," and held the Play/Pause button for 5 seconds to turn it off. I put it in my pocket...

An hour later, I took it out, and proceeded to turn it on...nothing. I tried everything: pressing each button for 5 seconds...10 seconds...I made sure that "Hold" was not on. I even tried it with "Hold" on. Nothing. Here I am a few hours after the incident, and still the iPod will not turn on. What happened? What can I do to fix this? Help, please! k everyone that can't turn on their iPod listen to me. I've figured it out. Press and hold the Menu button and also the select button for 10 seconds. I pretty much garentee that it will work. Later

hey, i have a ipod mini i got in hong kong. and i live in canada.. i brought it back.. and first time i used it, it worked fine.. had everything working.. and now when i update it twice my computer doesnt even seem to recognize it. I have had my I pod for over a year now. I have had problems in the passed and have had to exchange my family's i pod for a new one. But my warrenty has run out this time...
It all started when the man in my local apple shop told me about upgrading my i pod, when i went and baught an i trip, so i went home and upgraded it. It loaded and upgraded fine so i put it on the charger. About an hour later a turned it on and the apple sing came up and then a folder with an exlimation mark. I then took it back to my apple shop and they told me that my warrenty had run out. I was so mad because I could'nt do anything about it. The next day it started working, it played for about 5 minuets but then it started skipping songs. It still does this and when the folder sign come up i give it a tap and restart it but then it just skips songs. Just tell me how to fix it, im so over this!!!

I recently purchased my iPod mini from the guy who played mini-me in the Austin Powers movies. He was selling it on eBay. Apparently he has some issues with size and all, so he decided to purchase the 60 GB iPod. Crazy, huh? Anyway, everything has been great until yesterday. I need a little help. I had lots of songs purchased through itunes store. I backed up all computer data to DVD, but not by using itunes. The computer was then reformatted, and the music files are corrupted or gone. I was able to rip back the ones on my ipod. But all the music is on the DVD, itunes can play it, but will not re-import it. Any thoughts on how to rip the songs back off the DVD?

i need some help desperately i dropped my ipod about 30cm from the ground while i was getting it out of my pocket.
The hold switch was on.
When i tried playing music the buttons wouldnt work and now i cant get it out of hold or reset it.

When i try to transfer files from my library to the i-pod mini it doesn't go through. The computer (windows xp) sees the i-pod. The ipod plays files i transfered earlier. There's enough space on this baby for another 10 albums or so. What do you think the problem could be?

I dropped my 40GB iPod onto a concrete floor. It seemed fine until I connected it to my computer via firewire. The "Do Not Disconnect" showed up on the iPod screen like normal, but the iPod icon did not show up on my computer's desktop. I followed the procedure to reset several times, but each time I got a folder icon with an "!" in a triangle. I am concerned that I may lose all my data and music files. Does anyone know how I can retrieve the data before I send it to a service center for repair? Forgot to mention a noticeable sound from the drive spinning. Is my data gone for good? I have a 2 week old ipod mini. It worked fine until yesterday. I was playing solitaire when the display "cycled through" several menus and froze. I can't get it to do anything. The display is still on and none of the buttons respond. I tried hooking it up to the wall charger but it just sits there. My mini iPod keeps skipping songs. When I am srolling I select the song I want to listen to and on a number of songs, it will just skip to the next available one. This sometimes skips through about 50 songs.

I see lots of posts from people who have an iPod that only displays a folder icon w/ a "!" in a triangle. I am having the same problem with mine. I took it to the apple store and they were no help. I dropped my iPod a couple months ago and it stopped working a couple weeks ago, they think it's related and told me that after less than 4 months, my iPod is now a paperweight and there's nothing they can do. Add another person to the list here who has the folder icon and the "!" in a triangle. After hours of researching online, reinstalling software, trying to reset the mini, etc. I still cannot get it to work. I can't believe what a pain in the butt this is. Very frustrating to say the least.

My friend has a 60 G ipod that she just bought. When the ipod is plugged into a computer (not the computer she used to put the music on), all the songs show up and you can play them etc. But on the ipod when it's not plugged in - there is no music in the menu. i have an ipod 3g. in itunes...when synching...it will only load 40-50 songs, then freezes (there are hundreds on itunes). I have a 20g drive which shows 18+ free!

Okay.. i was wondering if you could help. My brother was playin with my ipod, like hitting all of the buttons really hard. It turns on and plays songs but the menu button doesn't work. the other day, i got an ipod mini, turns out it was faulty, had to return it... this time, i uploaded the songs, and i restored the whole ipod to see if it worked right, then i plugged it back in to put different songs on it, the iTunes did not recognize the ipod, and neither did ipod updater... another thing, is whenever i just touch the circle thing, the whole screen goes blank and i cannot reset it...

I have a 10 GB 2nd generation and whenever I plug it into my computer it doesnt come up on the desktop. Never had any problems before with it, it says its charging but doesnt show on iTunes or desktop. I 'm running mac os x and iTunes 4.6
Also, my entire iTunes music library got wiped for some reason, and I have d/led some software to restore it via the iPod, the problem being that whenever connected it doesnt come up.

Guess what all, we have another case of the flashing folder with the ! in the triangle. I have had my iPod for about an hour and I am getting pissed and I am about to throw it in the F***ING lake!! Recently my ipod (about 4 months old) will not charge using the USB connection. When I plug in the ipod to the USB cable, the computer recognizes the ipod is connected, but the ipod display does not indicate that the battery is charging. When I disconnect the ipod after 4-5 hours of connection to the USB cable, the battery is dead. I would normally think it's the USB cable, except that the connection is obviously fine since my iTunes recognizes the ipod. Please let me know if you have any thoughts. It could be the battery, except that the ipod is very new and I haven't used it that much. Thanks!

Something weird is happening with my iPod mini. When I press the shuffle songs music and try to listen to music it works lke normal, except when I finish listening to a song instead of going on to the next song it skips the next song and goes forward more songs than I want it to. Yes, I do know how to use the click wheel properly, and I reset my settings to see if I had somehow set it on something weird. Does anyone have any idea why it skips through some of my songs? Yesterday I went down to Pier 39 in SF for my bros B-Day I took the train so I took my Ipod Mini with me. My friends were listening to my music and whatnot, while I listened to my CD player (I carry on just in case Ipod dies) so we arrive at SF and my brother who had it handed it to me and I just wrapped the heaphones around it and turned it off. (Not sure if I locked it (Hold) as we were trying to get off. so it just stayed in my pocket as we walked all over SF and so when we got to the train station several hours later I came to realize that my Ipod was dead when I took it out to listen to it on thw way back.
When I got home I connected it to my comp for it to charge and went to sleep.
When I woke up the ipod was still dead with the apple logo just standing there and would disappear and reappear every 10 secs.
when I clicked on any button (specifically select or menu) the low battery icon with the ! appears then switches over to the apple logo.
My itunes doesnt ever recognize that its connected.
I searched these blogs and came under the hold select and menu for 10 secs which I did and it flickered (mac logo)
now as I was typing this it turned on for 2 secs, beeps and turns off.

i dropped my ipod mini and when i turn it on a sad ipod with an exclamation mark appears. i tried resetting several times but it wont work. the pc (winxp sp2) does not recognise it and it does not charge.what do i do?

Here's what fixes the Skipping Songs problem: Purchased music comes in a "protected-AAC" format. Itunes will play it, but iPod mini won't when you upload it. You have to tell iTunes to share these songs with your iPod (duh, shouldn't this be automatic?). In iTunes, go to Edit>Preferences>Sharing tab, and check the box for 'Share All Songs'. Have your iPod connected while you're doing this, and you should soon find that your iPod will play all the songs now.

Hi. I recently got a mini ipod. After installing it using my boyfriends computer we decided to upgrade his 6 month old one with the new software from the apple website. Now his has stopped working and all that appears is the folder and "!" warning triangle icon (yes I'm another one with this problem!!!!!). Howzit, i bought a mini ipod off my mate because it was hit by a soccer ball so the screen is cracked so i cant see which songs i play. but i still add songs and just skip through them which is perfect, just like a ipod shuffle. My ipod mini is showing the apple logo and it won't turn off at all and neither would it show anything else. I left it like that for a while and then the exclamation mark came with a battery picture and then it switched off. I turned it on again and its still showing the apple logo. And if I connect it to the PC, it says that there's no IPod connected. I've seen others with this problem, if there's a solution PLEASE post it on the board. PLEASE HELP!! My fiance accidentally downloaded a Beavis & Butthead WAVE Audio File into my iTunes & now my iPOD Mini is stuck on that. I can't turn it off or anything - it's frozen! I even tried switching the Hold button on & off. I then proceeded to hold down the Play & Menu buttons simultaneously - NOTHING'S HAPPENING!

For all you people with the "!" folder, the solution is

1. open ipod updater and Restore the ipod, or visit your apple store.

2. The ipod hard drive has failed. i suggest ebay.

ive dropped my ipod a couple times and ive had to beat the crap out of it to get sound again (i can still see the song playing and all te buttons work just no sound) but now it doesnt work anymore i get no sound at all .Have i beat it senseless? or just dropped it too much is there anything i can do.

hi, i bought a mini ipod for my daughters birthday which was only 2 weeks ago. anyway she accidentally dropped it on a concrete footpath. now all the ipod does is make a strange sort of static sound, the apple picture comes up and then the battery charging picture and also the ipod pic with the sad face and nothing else happens when i plug it into my pc. i have tryed resetting it etc. please help.i rang the place of purchase and they said i may need to download software to fix the problem. they think it may have a virus!

Hi, Iv had my iPod mini for about 7 months now and the battery wasn't staying charged as long as it usually would. I buy a battery kit off of this one site and I proceed to connect it exactly like the instructions said to, I put it all back together and charged it and I tried to turn it on but the click wheel doesnt work.... my ipod comes on with the apple logo, then shows a symbol that the ipod need to be plugged into the wall outlet, then the ipod turns off. i have plugged the ipod into the wall outlet but nothing changes.

I just got my Ipod a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I listened to it through my car (using an iplay from Monster: plays through a radio frequency) and it was fine. When I left work, it wouldn't turn on, would play, nothing. Totally dead. I tried all the "resetting" suggestions from Apple and nothing worked. Does anyone have an idea?

My over 1 year old 20gig iPod's Menu Button stopped working yesterday. It's never been dropped and I always carry it in a leather padded case. Crazy Eh. What can I try to get it working again. It's great that it got stopped working on my PKR Playlist at least. But I have over 1400 songs I'd like access to again... With all the issues I've seen online it shocks me that Apple's stock is doing as well as it is...

I want to get an ipod shuffle , but i was wondering if i could load all my songs from my cd's onto my computer and then load them onto the ipod when i get it.. but i didnt know if i could do that? ( if it was possible) or if i had to buy songs off of i tunes and then load them onto the ipod..?

I have a third generation 10G iPod, and when I recharge it via electrical plug. It tells me it is fully charged, but when I turn it on is never really fully charged it show sometimes 1/3, or 1/2, or 2/3's full. I have the same problem as most people. My Ipod want do anything, it just shows an exclimation sign in a triangle with a folder that has an upside down face in it. What do I do to fix it. Let me know please!!!

I TURN ON MY I-POD MINI THEN THE APPLE SIGN COMES BUT THEN THIS FOLDER WITH A UNHAPPY FACE COMES UP AND MY IPOD TURNS OFF.

Just received my IPOD Video 30GB and after following the steps above for inserting photos I still cannot manage it I am following the instructions to the letter and Im getting this error:

The iPod “Administrators iPod” cannot be updated. The disk cannot be read from or written to.

Can anyone please enlighten me as to what Im doing wrong?

besides that once again my I-pod Mini first gen is giving me trouble this time the message "songs on I-pod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected no longer exist."
My I-Tunes library has all the music I have collected and once played fine on the I-pod. I have replaced the battery loaded new I-tunes software and have run the updater still I get the same message...can any one help me with this before I

I also have the menu botton problem on my ipod mini that lots of people seem to have here. I can turn on the back light, so it isnt a mechanical problem, but I cant get the menu up. All the other buttons are working fine.

We own a IPod mini (4GB) - all of a sudden, all of our music was gone. So, I tried to reload everything from my ITunes library. However, Itunes won't recognize it anymore. It will mount on the desktop, but won't load into Itunes anymore. Please help.

Ok, so my ipod mini froze 2day for the first time,so i thought no problem, i will just wait till it unfreezes, no such luck, so i restart it like everyone says to do and when i turn it back on the little file exclamation point icon pops up so i find that that means i have the wrong itunes setup, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE when i had just plugged it in that morning without problems. So i try setting it to Cd mode and i can suddenly it just starts restarting over and over again and making a wierd noise (not from the head phones from the ipod itself). so at that i stop plug it into the charger and that did nothing. I have a third generation iPod and just replaced the battery using one I installed myself from another company, not Apple. I put it on the dock connector and it looks like it is charging and says "OK to disconnect", but when I take it off the dock connector, it won't even turn on. I have tried to charge it for 24 hours. Is it the battery or did I mess something up inside when I installed the new battery?
