Iriver H10 I just upgraded to firmware to the latest and then copied sync files using wmp but now the H10 just states
System Initializing please wait and it been several hours.any ideas on how to solve this issue????

I just bought a H10 and I'm not happy with it for the following reasons.

1. The ear phones that come with it are of poor quality
2. The EQ is of poor quality
3. There is an issue with it getting into sync
4. No fire wire
5. Platic cover for USB port very easy to get lost
6. After 2 weeks mine died. AC and DC sources do not work
7. Just another piece of garbage that has hardware and software issues.

My iriver MP3 player will connect with my computer, but it won't get into sync to where I can transfer files. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

please help if anybody knows how to sort this problem out,

so some reason when i turn the h10 on its says sytem fiels are missing and says i have to connect it to iriver plus, this i have done and the problem still excists.

For what do i have to exactly do when i connect it to iriver plus??

my iriver MP3 was fine for a few weeks, but suddenly it started freezing, and it semeed the only thing i could do was pull out the battery to make it work again, and the last time it happened, i turned on my iriver again and the only as i could access my music was through the browser, and everytime i turn my iriver on and go into music, it says 'all' and a different language saying something underneath it everytime. strange...i dont get it. not happy at alll

I have the same issues with my h10 not syncing up with media player. I contacted them and they said that it won't work with amd athlon chipsets. something to do with the motherboard that amd uses. Which i think is a load of crap and so have many other people.

I can snyc album "A" on to my H10 but when i try to do a second one, album "B". album "B" has the right names but plays album "A" songs. What is wrong?

Whenever i try to charge it, it does not work. The red light does not come on and it does not charge. Can someone help me with this? Is there anything i'm missing? Does anyone else have this problem?

whenever i start my h10 it says system files missing, and it says that this issue would be solved by connecting my h10 with irvier plus.i did all sort of things to make it work again but of no use.

my iriver just bailed on me! it hangs whenever i try to play a music file. and when i tried to connect it to iriver plus on my computer, it always said that the iriver device already has too many songs in it and thus cannot accomodate any more. but i've only used about 3G. what's wrong?!?!

i charged it wen it needed charging and then the next day i went to get it and it wont let me turn it on or anything i dont kno why or what is happing please get back to me this is very ergent.

I delete songs from the directory, but under music the albums, artists, etc. still show up and don't go away.

My iRiver H10 6mb won't turn off. Its set to auto power off after 10 secs on pause but thereafter it tells me to wait whilst it shuts down.However it doesn't shut down and therefore drains the battery. Is anyone else having this problem?

i cant work out how to amend music files once on the machine, for example i have compliation cds on there, and i want to change the artist name to the album name so that they are all the same when you view by artist. why cant you amend these details! anyone? cheers.

I recently bought an iRiver H10 6GB, and i cant sync the music! i have installed iriver plus (big no no seeing as it has abolished my WMP), but the sync and transfer options are not available. The only way i can get the music on is manually, but then i can only access it under browser. I also can't seem to put photos on without it showing as an error. Lastly, when i turn it on it comes up with DB Open Error. Anyone help? Cheers

My H10 was working fine, put about 8 albums on it. But then I tried to put another on & it says "Error: Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player". Now I can't put anything on it at all. Why?? x

One morning i woke up and for some reason my iriver h10 was on and now no matter what i press it wont turn off i cant scroll, reset or anything and its starting to get really hot what do i do?

I accidentally deleted all the files in my iriver h10 5gb and have been trying to recover the files with the h10plus software and have no success at it. All I get is that message "The File System on this device is damaged, use Window Explorer to format the device." Does anyone know how to deal with this problem? Plese Help.

My iriver is having a weird situation...whenever i turn it on, it will not allow the scroll in the middle to work or else it will automatically scroll to the buttom, continuously. I tried restarting the bugger, but nothing works. Help?

I got my H10 5GB for Christmas, and have spent many hours over the last few days trying to sort out the very same problems and error messages received by most other people here. Have reinstalled the software 4 times, and are still getting the "System files missing" message, as well as others. I work on an IT Support desk so aren't dim by any stretch when it comes to PC's and Techno gadgetry, but this iRiver H10 device is starting to sound like one serious piece of crap!

Windows Media Player shutsdown with an error meesage everytime I try to sync a playlist. I have tried 2 separate computers with the same result. I haven't been able to transfer one song yet. Help is appreciated.

I just bought an H10 20GB and it was working fine (except for the syncing thing) until it suddently just refused to turn on. Is this a frequent occurence with these things?! What should i do about it?

my iriver h10 was workng fine and then it runs flat and i plug it in to charge it and it makes an electric type noise thro the headphones and refuses to turn on now, when i plug it in the red light turns on but thats it

I have a little less than 5gigs of music and when I go to browser to play all my music, it will only play a certain amount of music once I pass a certain folder the error I get is exceeded the amount of supported folders. I use the brower feature on random so it will play all my music without me making several playlists. Has anyone encountered this problem

I just recently recieved my H10 iriver, 20 GB, very nice little devie. However, I am having a few mysteroius happenings with it.

1. Sometimes when I go to charge it it will connect, and other times media player goes 'no device detected press f5 to continue' and also my iriver doesn't have the who USB CONNECTED. What should I do?

2. Sometimes my battery lasts forever, and sometimes it dies fully charged in one hour. Is there a specific way to charge this device?

3. I can't get playlists to show up under the playlist headings, it only shows up in the browser heading. Help?

ok, i have an iriver h10 20gb, it was working fine for a few weeks, then all of the sudden when i transfer songs, they dont show up on the player, but show up on the computer. I have over like 618 and the player says i have 600. i have also had a minor problem with it freezing up.

I need help.
My iriver software was working just fine for a while. But recently, whenever I encode an album and transfer it to my H10, iriver Plus re-downloads all the albums already stored in the media library. It's taking me twenty minutes just to add one new album to my H10! And when it finally arrives it goes straight into my Browser rather than under Music. What am I doing wrong?

Can anyone who has a working H10 please copy the system files and send them to me?
I have the system files missing and having trouble replacing them.
I read through these posts and i am not impressed by the problems people are having. Iriver could do better to help us. FANKS

my iriver recently froze and when it started up again all my music was gone except for if i search through the browser! i have deleted all the tracks and added new ones but it just goes to the browser, except for one track which goes into music (strange i think)

I set my Custom EQ how I wanted it and when I turn it on, it works fine, but once that song is over, the next song that starts is not playing with my Custom EQ. How can I get it to play my Custom EQ on all of my songs without turning it on after every single song starts?

I have an i river h10 5 gb( 5 months old) and have had some problems like freezing and slow load times for the whole time but i figured hey i can live with that. but just yesterday when i turned it on to a song it made the most ungodly static electric sort of sound. i tryed 4 types of head phones and it was the same so that leads me to believe its the device, it does that with every song i try!!!...any help would be apperciated

I have had my IRiver for about 4 months and have had no problems until a week ago. I try to power it on and it says "system initializing please wait...Then it turns off and will not work. I tried hitting the reset at the top of it and it does the same thing. Plugging it into my computer is useless as well.

I hav recently updgraded the iriver h10 firmware to 2.51 and now everytime i connect it to the computer the software freezes when it tries to access the media files from the h10. And when i try to use windows media player a dialog box comes up saying "invalid access to memory"....so i hav no idea how to fix it. The h10 still has the songs i originally put on, but now i cant take any off, or put any new ones on. The iriver plus program keeps freezing when i connect the h10.

hey guys! well im on my second i-river h10 model which is very fustrating! my first one had a fault when i turned it on saying ' corrupted files please connect to iriver software' so i changed it on warranty and they gave me a second one. Two days in i have a faulty again! this time my i-river just freezes when i turn it on. theres a clock with a circular motion hand spinning about! very annoyed about this! I DNT RECOMMEND I-RIVER AT ALL!!!!!

I'm having a problem with my H10 20 gig. I havent had any issues at all for about 8 months, but i've recently been having trouble syncing my songs. It will connect, and start to sync, but when it gets to the 4th song, it basically freezes up. This happens through windows media player, but also if i just try to add the files straight through my computer onto the device. I'm also having problems with it randomly freezing while playing songs. Anyone know what to do about it?

I have recently purchased an iriver H10 20gb, and it has been very frustrating because my computer does not recognize the device. I have a windows xp home edition with service pack 2 and windows media player 10. It seems to work fine on my friends computer. I looked over the support site and I see other people have had the same problem as me but see few answers. Please help me out so I can enjoy this product instead of returning it to get some other mp3 player.

For anyone having trouble with your player saying "System Files Missing"

I had the same problem with the my H10 constantly saying "systems files missing" and at the time I was unable to download the firmware and also couldn't turn off my player so was obviously really annoyed. I managed to fix it though by connecting to iriver plus and going into options and clicking "Portable Device Intialiazation" this deleted all my media and everything but it got rid of the problem completely and as soon and i reconnected my h10 into iriver plus it put all my music back on. I did lose any recordings or other non-music things in my browser though.

My 3 day old iRiver H10 turns on by itself when unattended. It will not then turn off unless reset. The company seems to not list this as a problem. I do, since when I wake up and the unit is playing without me, I wonder who it thinks it is entertaining? Any advice?

Has anyone had problems trying to get playlists on their H10? I can't complain about the machine as a whole, and I really love it, but syncing it is a real pain. I can upload songs to it (although it takes forever), but I am having a problem with playlists. I'm using Windows Media Player 10...

Anyone know where I can get more of those little thin grey protective covers that fit over the battery charge and USB cable socket at the bottom of the iRiver 6gb? Had two, lost two. Does it matter or do they protect against dust etc?

I've had my Iriver for 6 months and it was working fine but for someone reason it has been messing up lately and the only thing I could do was pull the battery out but when I did that the next time I tried to turn on my Iriver it wouldn't turn on so now I'm mad because I cant listen to my usic and it seems like nowone else can help so I was wondering if anyone was having this problem with their Iriver. when i turn on my iriver on it takes ages to start up then it says 'System Files Missing, To restore the system files, connect H10 to iriver plus' When i connect it to my computer it just freezes, the only way i can turn it off is by taking out the battery.

Purchased the H10 5Gig late December 2005.
Used it for 5 days until I accidently ran the battery down when I was overseas. When I was able to recharge I got the message system files missing to restore the system files connect h10 to iriver plus. This obviously doesn't work. I took it back to the store on the 20 Feb 06 and was told that repairs take 15-20 working days. Rang them at day 21 21 Mar to be told that the the part needed was out of stock and would be another 5-10 days. What is this problem with the system files? Its obvious a design or engineering problem they should replace the unit. Im not happy and will never purchase an I River product again.

My iriver has been working completely fine since I've got it.. however it does sometimes freeze but its only done it once or twice. The thing is.. I have NEVER accessed my music from the "music" section. I have always accessed it through the browser section and the iriver plus CD ALWAYS freezes. like right now -.-" I would actually like it if I could put and sort my music into separate categories instead of always scrolling downt he whole playlist everytime I wanna choose a song -.-"

H10 5 GB player

Had 2 problems:
1. "system initializing" came on, but would not show files.
2. Computer would not recognize the player (windows XP)

I called customer service (on the phone for 1/2 hour waiting); and here is what they did:
To fix the computer not recognizing:
Emergency turn on - connect mp3 player to computer, hold down the "o" button and the "on" button at the same time. The screen will say "emergency" and the computer should recognize the device.

To fix the system initializing screen:
My computer
R click on the H10 drive
Go to FORMAT
check the box for "quick format"
Press OK

This will delete your current firmware upgrade and allow you to reinstall the firmware. You will lose your mp3s, but it's the only way I've found to get the player working again.

I got a 5GB H10 iriver for my birthday, very nice, but lately, its been messing up, for example:
1) occasionally and more often recently, the play/pause button will not function correctly
2) It freezes and cannot be fixed unless you take out the battery and put it back in again...

HELP!!!

i got an iriver for christmas and these are the problems i have been having with it:
1. It freezes randomly
2. Won't let me put cds on it
3. After track 8 of each cd it freezes
4. Recently, won't let me plug it into the computer without freezing up

Hi, i am having a bit of trouble with my Iriver H10, that it will not let me send created playlists which are on my computer onto my mp3 player.

my h300 wont turn on or off one minute i was listening to it then it just stopped. i can here it running inside but cant get it to do anything. tried connecting to my computer but it wont connect what can i do.

Get a paper clip and press the reset button which inside a small hole on the bottom of the H300.

lindsey, thankyou so much it worked i love my h300 i was most upset when it stopped working your a star.

On the top of the iRiver H10 is a small hole next to the locking switch. Place the unit in the unlocked state, take a paperclip and bend out a leg and poke the end into the hole (gently!). There is a reset switch inside the hole that can cure many hang up problems. If you go to the iRiver website you will find (buried in the tecj support section) instructions on what to do with this and pressing combinations of other buttons that will let a completely FUBAR H10 update its operating system. The USB drivers and core operating system files are in permanently locked flash and can be updated by a utility from iRiver (also in the tech support section).

My only problem with the unit (bought in January) is an odd lockup situation where the "lock" switch really leaves the unit "locked up" with power on and no way to turn it off without using the "reset" micro switch.

Oh, get the cradle, too, if you want a better method of connecting it to the PC that doesn't overstress the connector.

how do i clear the whole of my iriver, so there is no media or data on it at all please?

I Was really impressed with my iriver at first but things have gone from bad to worse. i've always had trouble getting it to sync but got my music on it when i used my dads laptop... now i found the cd that came with my iriver h10 but it still doesnt seem to work.. and everytime i put it in it just downloads windows media player 10, again and again and again.. when i already had it in the first place. now... and i've only had it for about 3 months. It comes up with the System Initializing Please Wait sign everytime i turn it on. I am so pissed off that i paid so much for a piece of shit that doesnt work. does ANYONE know how to fix this problem,without deleting all my music!

Hey can someone help me with my Iriver H10 it kept freezing and the only way to turn it off was to take out the battery it did that a few times, then recently when i had to do it again it came up with a message "System Files Missing plug into iriver plus" i can do nothing to fix this so anyone that has had this problem and has fixed it please help :D

I cant believe someone actually said that the headphones that come with the H10 are crap!! You obviously havent listened to many bud earphones. It is blatantly a bad call. They are the best buds I have ever had! I am an audio engineer and havent used bud earphones for years as they usually hurt my ears. These awesome sennheiser earbuds dont. Also the bass clarity is the best i have ever heard out of such a small headphone. Great work iriver, teaming up with sennheiser is a GREAT move.

Oh, and I forgot to add, anyone having any problems with the iriver i.e. freezing, files missing etc.
Just hit the tiny reset button (you will have to use a small pin or something that will fit in the hole) Its next to the hold button beside the headphone input.
The reset button DOES NOT DELETE any files, it just reboots the system. It has fixed any problems i have had.

Oh and 1 more thing!!!
If you are having ANY problems with shitty old media player (why you would use it i will never know) then just go to 'my computer' and you should see the iriver as a new drive on your system. Simply open it up and go into the media>then>music directory and drag and drop your music directly in there. Its that easy.
Your problem is media player, not the iriver.
